FDs are OBD-1. You just count the blinks on the CEL and look it up in the manual. If you have the manuals downloaded to your laptop, now the tool is laptop-based.

There is a fancy diagnostic tool that plugs in and does the same tests and looks up the data, but it's not reasonably priced and it has nothing to do with a laptop.

If you have a lack of power, start with your boost level. For this you need an aftermarket boost gauge - do you have one installed?

As mentioned above, make sure you have a boost gauge first. After that, it's possible that your car does not have a Check Engine Light (CEL). If not, read the following thread:

if you have no check engine light. the dio tool is useless. the stock ecu is very stupid. look into a power fc in the future. or borrow one and plug it in, and use that as a dio tool. if you are down on power change the plug and fuel filter. Unless you know the history of the fuel filter, change it (this is the most important thing you can do to save your engine) also when you have any odd engine quirks change the plugs. rotarys eat plugs for lunch. when in dought change them out.
