FD Build Up Project

After purchasing my 93 Brilliant Black broken (3 pounds of boost, 17 second quarter miles) in May of 2003, i am finally getting it fixed. I have been planning what i wanted to do to her for a while, but i have never had the money. Now that the money situation is taken care of, i have brought her to Cekret Performance in New Bedford, Ma. Over the past couple of years i have purchased parts, but i have not had them installed.
i brought her to Cekret on January 15th with my mom's RX-8 full of parts. I brought, to have installed, 3 carbon Fiber Autometer gauges (Boost,Water Temp, Oil Temp,) HKS EVC 5 Boost Controller with RX-7 installation kit, HKS US Spec 1 Turbo Timer with Turbo Timer Harnesses, B&M Short Throw Shifter, HKS Royal Purple Elements for my Racing Suction Kit, HKS Universal Super Sequential Blow Off Valve with flange, Sylvania Silverstars, and a 791XV Viper alarm system. i am waiting on an HKS S-Type Front Mount Intercooler which should arive at my house within a couple of weeks.
Anthony, from Cekret Performance, and i discussed a lot of different things that would make my car look and run better. Due to the fact that my car has been sitting since October of 2003, i have had quite the mold issue with the interior. I originally wanted the Sparco Pro2000 seats, but they wouldnt fit in my car, unless i made alterations to them. i decided on getting the Sparco Evo 2 seats in black. In addition to the seats, i am getting the Sparco Cam Lock 4-point harnesses bolted to the Rotary Extreme Harness Bar. For gauges, i am getting the Carbon Fiber Exhaust Gas Temperature and Oil Pressure guages. I am getting the Triple gauge pod and the Center Channel dual gauge pod. Where the guages are going, im not to sure yet.
i was sitting around thinking of where i wanted to put my EVC 5 and Turbo timer. i was looking at a picture of my interior and i was thinking what about over my glove box? i ran the idea by anthony and he said it was doable. we were going to origianlly take the factory vent out and re-route it to the passengers feet, but he found a carbon fiber piece that he is going to have custom cut out and re-finished to look like the piece was made to look like this from the factory. he is adding a carbon fiber dash kit and a JDM shift boot and e-brake boot. For my hand i will have a Sparco Globe-X Shift ****, and for my feet i will have Sparco Carbon Fiber pedals.
For the engine, i am having the 3"mild steel downpipe installed, the front mout intercooler installed with the universal blow off valve welded to the piping, and factory NGK ignition pieces (spark plugs and spark plug wires.) The vaccuum lines are going to be re-done in an HKS soft blue color. Since my air conditioning doesnt work as it is, i am just having it removed. because i am doing this i am adding the Unorthodox SS Pulley Kit that keeps the air pump so maybe i can pass my emmissions test this time! For fuel, we are looking at either 1300 or 1500cc injectors from RC. The fuel is going to be controlled by an APEXi Power FC with Commander and Holder positioned next to passenger's left leg. The battery is going to be re-positioned to the rear passenger bin. I am getting rid of the large DieHard battery in favor of a Red Top Optima Battery.
Since my clutch is starting to slip (note to self: do not try to re-teach girlfriend how to drive standard again!) i decided to go with a ACT 6-puck clutch with a 2600lb pressure plate and a stainless stell clutch lline. From the transmission to my hand will be a B&M Short Throw shifter.
Since my car was sitting for too long, my brakes thought it would be funny to rust. i am getting KVR Slotted rotors, with KVR Carbon Brake pads, Goodridge stainless steel brake lines, and Mazda Re-manufactured 4-piston callipers. I am having the callipers powdercoated in red with the Mazda (front callipers only) in Silver. Should look nice, i think.
For the tires, i am getting a sticky Kumho Escta Supra 712 in 255/50/16 in the rear and 245/50/16 up front. I am trying to get the wheels powdercoated black, but depending on the curb damage and scuffs, i am not too sure if this is possible yet. hopefully. i dont want to buy rims until my car is single turboed, so i figured this will hold me over.
the outside is going to be simple. Front and rear flying-M emblems from a miata and tribute and flying-M wheel caps. Sylvania Silverstars will add a nice little touch. To protect my baby, i will be having the Viper Alarm installed as well.
well, i am pretty sure thats it. if you have read this far, thank you very much. if you have any questions or comments, i would be more then happy to answer them. i will have more updates as soon as i get them. The final project should be out anywhere from 4-8 weeks. im in no rush. if you want to see it in person, i will be at this years Hot Import Nights in Boston.
Oh yeah, if you live in New England and are looking for an RX-7 tuner, Anthony and all the guys from Cekret Performance are really nice, easy to work with, and have a lot of experiene with the FD, considering Anthony owns and tunes his own CYM. There phone number is (508)997-4092 and there address is 206 Rockdale Avenue, New Bedford, Ma
this is the only factory picture of my car that i have online. sorry ill get more up soon as the project progresses.

comments:
1. Kumho 712s are definitely not "sticky"
2. I'd go with 245/45/16s all around
3. 6 puck clutches are a bitch to drive. i don't know why you would want one....
4. As for mounting stuff over the glove box - I think it would not look good.
