FD 850cc injector bored out to 1200cc question

I'll also be posting this question to a couple other forums, so only answer in one place.

I had mine done by RC. A month later a friend had his done. When comparing the RC calibration reports, a strange fact was noticed. Both of our sets had the exact flow rates. This seems strange to me.

#1 was 1203.0 cc/min and #2 was 1196.0 cc/min.
The average is 1199.5 cc/min.

If RC did yours, please post your specs.

That's weird. I was thinking of having mine done by RC too.

Is this a result of the boring process or is something bogus here?

well its pretty normal in 1 respect.

If they use the same drillbit ( or other boring device..) then the #'s shoudl be very similiar!
But why would the one injector be bigger then the other ??

Something doesnt make sense..

The answer is so obvious and its all leading to this answer so just say it. They dont really test flow these things. They did one set and now thats the same spec sheet they send everyone when thiers are done. Its kinda bullshit but I am sure yours flow similar and thats why they do that. Less time is consumed. Maybe thier flow bench is fucked up but they can still do the work, For whatever reason they should disclose that this is a typical flow rate and not the actual flow rate of your set.

That is what I am trying to determine before I contact them. If they do not flow test them, then they are guilty of fraud.

Let say you sent them all 4 injectors. To run a balanced fuel system, you would check all 4 spec sheets and then pair a 550 with a 850/1200 so that both pairs match as close as possible for equal flow rates. If their specs are bogus, you might have the two leanest paired together on one rotor with the other rotor having the two richest. See the problem here?

I set my secondary injector size to the average of what they sent me, 1999cc. What if the real average was like 1210? True you would not blow an engine but it is not good feeling.

Ooops......I F****d up!

This is what I get when I go by memory. Chuck, your numbers sounded similar to mine, but after sleeping on it, I decided to dig out my spec sheet. Sooo..... lets just say I need to be careful what I write in a public forum before doing any legwork. Here are my numbers:

1204, 1197 for an average of 1200.5.

system balance: .6

Sorry everyone.

To answer Rx7aholics question, they charge $175 an injector.

in the meantime just program whatever computer youre using for the lower of the 2 values.....and youll just run rich on one rotor for a while til the problem is resolved.
thats what i would do at least....

confucious say : better to be rich flamer than be sit at home with no rx7 motor popper
