Question Fan Mod only comes on & off when cars off.

I spliced into the green wires that run into 2 relays (the left ones) that are located under the hood against the passenger fender wall. Well, It does nothing even when grounded UNLESS the car is turned off. I want to use it while the car is running. Is it because my car is a 94 and has had the factory fan correction done? Anyways I hear there might be a way to connect to yet another relay and get it to work better... I need more insight.

Well I really want to use this fan mod WHEN the car is running. Are there any other wires to try to splice into to get it going while the car is running?
Am I missing a step or something? Or is this the only option for the newer RX7s (94-95)?

Kento, I get the feeling that if I just ground one more wire to get the higher fan speed, that it might run while the car is going. I will try this tomorrow and post results. *Im assuming the Med. speed doesnt work because we have had the fan recall done.

That was my theory, but no one was able to (or didn't want to) answer it.

Lemme know, 'cuz I'll definitely just run'em on high if it works.

Alright Kento, I spliced into a third relay (to get the Higher Fan speed) and its the same effect but at a higher fan speed.
Fan still only works when the car is completely off.
But now the fan speed is higher. I wonder what happens if I splice into yet the 4th Relay!? will it work while the car is running? damn I want it to work right.

Damn. Well, here's the deal: when I look at the wiring diagrams, the voodoobox fan mod has you grounding the wire that leads to a "temp sensor" for medium speed. Which would lead me to think that you're tricking the ECU into thinking that coolant temps are very high, so it kicks the fans into high gear. And would explain why my car goes into the 10-minute fan run sequence after shutdown, even though the temps are way down below normal.

I'm wondering, however, if the fan wiring update changed the wire coloring around so that the fan mod instructions are incorrect?

I dont even get the 10 minute countdown after shut off. So am still way off it looks like. I have spliced into only 3 green wires coming off the relays. I saw my friends info. showed that splicing into both the green wires & violet wires is how his method is. *shrug
Ill keep you posted
