I need an engine rebuild and have been debating on where to take it. I am considering just getting a factory rebuilt engine from Mazda. Does anyone have any knowledge in this area in how Mazda rebuilds their engines? Do they use all new internals? (that is what a local dealer told me). Or do they use rebuilt parts also?
If anyone can share some light please let me know.
Thanks

try searching on 'reman'. LOTS of info on this topic.
In short, NO, Mazda does not use all new internals. Some of the Mazda reman motors are very shoddy. Do a search and you'll see what I mean.

Remans DON'T have all new parts. The parts should be in spec, but my recent reman had some REALLY funky rotor bearings. I sent mine to Pineapple for tear down, inspection, light massaging of the oil system and better O-rings.
pineapple also offers a reman engine that they tear open and go through themselves. and replace all the **** parts and stamp a 2 yr guarentee on it.. thats the route im going to take and its only $2300 good price for a pineapple engine

They are not rebuilt at the Mazda factory, they make new motors for new cars. The remans are done in the US for our market . Never put one in for a customer unless you go through it, or have a disclaimer , that you are not backing their quality .
