factory alarm: is it adequate?

hi guys i just bought a used 94 FD. i was planning on buying an aftermarket alarm for it, but then i studied the instruction manual last night. it says that if any of the doors, hood or trunk are opened, the alarm will go off and prevent the car from starting.

the only things i really look for in an alarm are ignition kill and a hood pin (if the hood is popped it triggers the alarm, suprisiginly most alarms won't have this unless you specifically install a hood pin during installation). this is because back in the day when i had a honda, someone tried to steal my car by reaching under the car, popping the hood, cutting the wires to my alarm and then trying to steal it. 2 other friends with hondas have had the same thing happen to them when someone tried to steal their car. seems like a common way for disablin the alarm is cutting the wires to it, so that's why i figured the hood pin to be important.

so you guys think that the factory alarm is adequate? yeah i don't have keyless entry, but i could care less.

I feel it is - But I don't really believe in alarms - If I was to add any aftermarket alarm type thing it would just be a LoJack type system.
The thing I like about the factory alarm is that it very rarely gives false alarms or goes off accidently.

If someone REALLY wants your car, no alarm is going to stop them from taking it. Bottom line, a garage is your best mod.

And even garages can be broken into if they want the car and have been scoping it out.

Note that the hood switch can sometimes be a little funky on our cars, and will remain "closed" even with the hood open (a la the cool down-hood open mod). If someone wants to defeat the stock system, they'll have downloaded the manual and looked up the appropriate areas.

If they want it, they'll get it!
