fabricated bracket for ignition amp

I was looking for a spot in the engine bay to mount my B&M New Volts ignition amp but there wasn't really a good spot. I then thought of a way to "suspend" it in the area shown. I bought the 2" wide aluminum bar from my local hardware store, heated it up with a torch and carefully bent it in to an "S" shape. Then I drilled the holes, cut out a notch on each side to clear the factory box that's there, cut some rubber pad to protect against vibration, and then zip tied it on. The thing is rock solid.

Thought that this would help everyone out who is having the same problem locating a spot. Oh yeah, and best of all, no drilling the body- uses the factory mounting holes.

For all the pics (and full size too), you can view them at: http://www.imagestation.com/album/?id=4290619011

Looks nice, Tom!

If anyone has cruise control and an HKS TwinPower, you can mount the ign amp easily on top of the cruise control unit.

Yeah, I thought about that, but this was enough for one day. I've got some other polishing to do too so I'll do it all at once.

I thought about that too- if anyone has cruise, this would not work for them.

And lastly, some might wonder why I didn't make the brackets shorter, so it would sit closer to the fender apron. The reason is that my little 1/4 in drive ratchet and #10 socket just barely fits in there; I hate using combination wrenches.

What do you think Max, should I shorten the brackets down? It would be easy to do, just cut off one end and re-bend it.

I like the bracket how it is. It gives a lot of room for air flow over both components. I think it looks great.

I mounted my HKS Twin Power under the Cruise Control on my car - You can't really see it at all, and no problems so far
