How much exhaust soot is normal for a 3rd gen? If mine were a piston engine, I'd say it was running way too rich - there's a fairly heavy soot deposit in the tailpipe, and on both the inlet and outlet ends of the precat (now retired). The car is always run long enough to reach full operating temp, and it's run WOT often enough to keep the fuel mileage below 20.
