Exhaust resonator

Hello,
Just wondering if the stock system has a built in resonator?
I got my exhaust done a year ago the shop that did the cat back install did not say anything about taking out or adding a resonator...

I was just wondering if my car still had this system in the exhaust and i took it out.. would i notice much difference in sound ? and is it fairly simple to replace the resonator with just a hollow pipe?

Would a hollow pipe in place of the resonator cause boost spiking ?

The stock exhaust system doesn't really have a resonator. Basically, the stock exhaust system consist of:

1. Downpipe/pre-cat (JDM models did not use a pre-cat)
2. Main cat
3. Catback

You just replaced #3. You can replace #2 with a midpipe which contains a resonator but that can cause uncontrollable boost. Its not recommended to use a midpipe without some sort of ECU upgrade.

It depends what kind of exhaust you have. Usually exhuasts are just catbacks meaning only the last pipe of the three have been replaced. If you look under the car you should see that the pipe between your catback and downpipe/precat should have a catalytic convertor if it wasn't repalced by the shop.

A midpipe will cause boost spike unless you port the wastegate.
