Question Exhaust Brake?

I was watching "Two Guys' Gargage" the other day on the Speed channel, and they were installing an exhaust brake on a big chevy diesel truck. I don't want to put anything like this on my car, but I was wondering why no one has. It works by closing a valve in the exhaust when the throttle is lifted. By restricting the exhaust flow, the engine slows down more rapidly. I wouldn't want this, but it seems like it would be beneficial to those who do a lot of racing. Has anyone else ever heard of this? Would it even work with a rotary?
