excessive heat

I was just wondering if anyone else has excessive heat coming up from below the shifter. The plastic gets so hot I would probably burn myself if I touched it for to long. Is this heat from the transmission or is this normal?

Thanks,
Shogun

Your inner shifter boots must be torn or missing.
