Question Ethanol-gasoline

All of the Exxon stations near me have changed to premium grade that they label "contains 10% ethanol" but still have the 93 octane rating posted on the pump. I visited the RX7 club alternative fuels forum to see if there was any reliable info on using ethanol mixtures in th FD3, but most of the posts were speculation from people who have no hands-on experience and one or two posts from drag racers with super-modded engines. Question: what re-tuning should be done running 90% gas 10% ethanol in a car with 14 psi boost using stock injectors to insure that there will be no pre-ignition? Does the ethanol effectively reduce the risk of knocking? Other mods on car are shown in signature.

Ethanol reduces knock in my car significantly. With only 10% mix I would not worry about anything. Ethanol offers a cleaner and lower temp burn in the combustion process. In a basic mentality Lower temps = Lower knock. I can't see any reason for you to worry. I would love it for my exxon station to offer more meth mixed into my gas.

I have been using Gasohol (which is petrol with ethanol mix) for about a year already.. I havent had any problems at all.. ethanol even cleans your rotot housing and rotors as well.. The only mods neccasary are remapping your ecu, mines a PFC so that the ignition timimg is a bit slower as ethanol burns faster than petrol.. thats it
