Question Engine, Tranny and Rear End Bounce =/

Alright, ever since I did the non-seq conversion I dont know if I got more HP or something but everything is moving alot from its mounts. The engine moves alot, everytime I shift and engage the clutch I hear the thump of the tranny and rear end jumping and then dropping =/. So Im taking it REAL easy on the car until I can get all my mounts and bushings replaced. My question is what would a whole suspension revamp include and normally cost? Also would solid mounts be real tough on the road?

This is what Ive thought of so far

The Famous Unobtanium Bushings
Motor Mounts (not sure about stock or soild)
New Front and Rear Bearings
New Struts

Largest piece of steal on the car running from the rear part of the tranny to the front of the diff. Can't miss it.

Pick up a engine brace, tranny brace, and a diff brace. Viagra for an FD, your car will be stiff as a board. Hope you dont have any loose fillings though..

also might want to invest in diff bushing. i've got those, a diff brace, and solid motor mounts. hardly anything moves and it's not nearly as unstreetable as people say it is. it's not much worse than stock, but does transmit a lot of noise

well I got a question also. I'm not sure If I got the same problem. When I start or take off on my car I here something rattleling under the car and I can't firgure out what it is. It also sound like the differensial is hoping when I get the car moving off first gear. The shifter is sloppy also. When I brake I heard the ussual clonk too. I never thought of the PPF. Would this be my problem, I was thinking of the diff. mounts. Where is a good place to get a new PPF? shuld I got to the factory one or aftermarket one?

And having that many braces will rattle the teeth out of your head...Slightly over kill I think. Check your PPF first...If it's ok then get the torq brace and see what happens...then if it still feels loosey then go for the diff brace or tranny brace. But not all three. I personally don't have all three but from what I read, it's major overkill.

The torque brace for the motor? Is that the one your talking about? My chassic only has 133k so will the bushings and mounts be dead?

No PPF will handle repeated twisting if the bushings which support the drivetrain (differential mount, motor mounts) are bad. With 133k miles on your chassis, it's a fair bet that they're all in dire need of replacement.

Braces should be considered ONLY after checking and replacing the bushings if they are bad. You should start with a good foundation before adding anything else. Otherwise, you're only masking the problem and putting additional stress on parts of the car that weren't designed to deal with it. No one's reported a problem with metal fatigue from using braces yet... but if you ask me, it's only a matter of time.

Nylon or aluminum bushings in the differential mount definitely make a differential brace superfluous, BTW.

Jim you still make those unobtanium bushings?
