Engine torque braces

I know that people have seen alot of different threads on these and are interested....but how interested are you? I have made these for my car's a while back out of chrome-moly with laser cut brackets and they look great and are very strong. They use the rod ends like others you have seen and mount in the same location. I don't have pics as of yet.....(i will) but I want to see if anyone is interested in these. I don't have an exact price as of yet but can assure you they won't be very pricey.

I'm going to have rear suspension pieces soon as well (like the M2 kits) out of chrome-moly that have the rod-ends. You replace your rears with these and wheel hop is gone for good.

With the torque brace and the rear pieces I would have to say you'll love your car even more....if that's possible

I'm looking at having a few sets within the next week to two weeks and then we'll see where it goes from there. The cost will be less than the M2 set and I'll look into doing a package deal with the brace and the suspension pieces. I'm also going to be copying my other custom parts that I made for mine that include: subframe connectors, rear differential brace, and tranny cross brace.

I'll try and get pics up as soon as possible of mine to let you see what they look like. The guy that is helping me with all my stuff is one of the best fabricators that I've seen to date. He is also helping me build my 20B cradle and other parts that I need for my girls conversion when I get around to doing it. He builds off-road racing buggies and trucks so he knows what something needs to have to be strong.

I'm definitely interested in the torque brace. I heard that with M2 toe links, the car is unstable above 90mph. Is this true?

It looks as though there is another person doing this engine brace as well....Crispy ....or something like that. I'm gonna wait to see what he has to offer before I spend too much time and money and have them sitting around. I'm gonna still make a few and play with some of the other ideas with these.....like the shock absorber. I've got other plans as well to make my stuff stand out from the rest....so let's see what he has to offer and then I'll go from there. My price will depend on how they are made.....because I want to have a few different options. If his do not go through then please let me know and I'll push mine through. One funny thing....I don't remember anyone saying that they were gonna sell these until after I put my thread up. They were only offering do it yourself info....oh well....to each his own.

I'm still going ahead with all the other parts and will keep everyone tuned in to the results.

My hat is off to you silvr94r2. You have demonstrated most honorable ethics. So thanks.
I (we) have actually been attempting to do more than just offering advice on how to make your own but were withholding any details until we had everything sorted out and then saw all our work go to hell when you piped up offering to do the same thing. But in any case I hope I (we) can supply a product that will make everyone happy both quality wise and pricewise. We'll keep you posted and should have details by next week.
Regards
Crispy
PS it's gonna be good I can tell you that

OK....let's not turn this into something that it's not. I was just stating the obvious....you were not talking about selling it until after my thread popped up. You can go back and look at the times and see that it was never discussed until after I said that I was going to. I'm sorry if you feel that I've done something wrong but I have a business and have had these parts made since last year so it's not something that just popped up. I'm really offended that you say that I've caused all your work to go to hell.....read your posts......you never once offered these pieces as a product. You were offering advice on how to build them....that's all. People even asked about a group buy with no reply.....so sorry....you are the one who is practicing dishonorable ethics.
Thanks.....I hope they are very nice pieces....You would be doing the community justice.

For the record.....I wasn't saying that i was going to wait until yours came out to copy them or anything. I just didn't want to cause a battle over some parts that there really isn't that much of a market for. I think you misunderstood what I was saying....so if that's the case then please don't let this change anything.....keep on building them and let the RX7 community get a quality product at a reasonable price.

I will continue to build the other parts like I said and I will have my "version" of the engine braces as well in the near future.

Thanks

This whole thing got a little confusing earlier but i hope now it's all cleared up.

If anyone is still interested in the engine braces I will still make them and I will also be adding some extra options. The pricing will follow shortly......I made some calls today and found some good prices and some really cool new ideas that should be interesting.

People that are interested in these PM me and I'll start making a list.

Talking Interested? HELL YEAH!

I'm definitely interested silver. I've been looking for the "japan only" engine torque bar/brace since the issue of "automobile" had the knightsports white FD in it's issue a few years back, but all the "jap only " stuff was outrageously priced and then I'd have to wait 6 weeks or so to get it shipped over here from japan. So count me in for your one off brace, even interested in the diff brace too! Keep us posted.

Ok I talked to my friend last night who helps me with this stuff and he said by the end of next week we should have a few and then the week after have about 10 more and so on. The reason for the wait is because we have to order all the rod-ends and a few of the other things....once they get here were good to go.

Like I said earlier.....just to go over it again.....they will be out of chrome-moly and use very good rod-ends (not el cheapo ones). The brackets will look pretty cool because were playin with a couple of different designs that have stamp outs on them. I will offer polishing to people that want it and I'm looking into other color options also depending on interest.

Thanks again for all the interest and I assure you they will be a quality product.

I don't understand why this would be an issue.....I mean they replace alum. pieces with stronger chrome-moly and use rod-ends vs. rubber bushings. It seems as though it would firm up if anything. I wish my car was up and running so i could go out and do some high speed blasts and test them. I'll have an answer for you for sure before i offer them up for sale.....i certainly wouldn't want that to be an issue. If this is an issue then I'll find out what causes it and fix it before the final product so you won't have to worry about that.

Silver, add me to your list. By the way, the M2 links don't cause the car to be unstable. I've had them on my car for a couple of years and it's one of the best mods I've ever made.

I've got some early pricing for the engine brace......this isn't final but it's a rough estimate. I won't have to have any sort of minimum order to get the cost down because i'm making them myself. It's somewhere around $150......+ or - a few dollars. I'm still waiting on getting all the hardware together and whether or not to polish.

How many people would want the polished look? I just don't want to offer only that because some people might not want it. I'm thinking about offering it painted to match your car.....that would look pretty damn good too. I have a friend who owns a paint shop so if you did want it paint matched you could just give your paint code and that's it.

Just some different ideas

I didn't see how it would be possible unless the build quality wasn't very good on the toe links....but I've heard that they were very clean.

I'll add you to the list....read my post 1 up and see what you think.

Thanks

This actually just occured to me. Where are you mounting the brace? In the engine bay or are you going to attach it under the car to the tranny? I would prefer polished, but that's not a big deal...

And the M2 links are awesome. They don't eliminate wheel hop but they definately help it out.

Sign me up for the polished look...I'm all over that..at 150 I'm in...so anytime you are ready...shot me a PM and I will paypal you some $$$..

I guess I'll add I just need the engine brace...

I have the m2 stuff already...and I've been up to 130mph...no unstability...probably someone's crappy tires

Thanks,
Johnny

Rotorhvn99: It's going to be the one in the engine bay.....I've also got the one for the tranny but that's going to be a little while away, along with some other bracing and suspension goodies

Looks like the polished look will be the winner....but I will only do it on those who specify it. I think I'm going to paint mine silver to match the car.......with my logo on it.
