check compression

To perform the test:

* Check that battery is fully charged.
* Warm up engine to normal operating temperature, then stop it.
* Allow 10 minutes for the exhaust manifold to cool.
* Remove the front and rear trailing side spark plugs.
* Disconnect the circut-opening relay. This is the relay inside the engine compartment near the left front strut. The relay cover should be labeled. I believe mine is green.
* Disconnect the igintor connector. The ignitor is a small (2.5" x 3.5" x 0.75") silver box with cooling fins located on the left fender near the engine firewall below the cruise control cable mount bracket. Dimensions are approximate but this should get you close. When I do this test, I drive the car to operating temp, then perform 4, 5, and 6 during the cool down period.
* Fully depress the accelerator pedal and crank the engine for 5 to 10 seconds. Note readings.

make sure the engine is warm so everything will be lubricated.

should also read the FAQ's NOOB haha

Why do you think the engine is going to pop at any time? If the car is maintained and modded properly, the engine should last a good long time.

Do you have any evidence that would lead you to think you have a bad motor? If everything's running strong, you're fine. While these engines can sometimes lead to problems, there's no reason to think they're all ticking timebombs all the time!

Maintain it, and take good care of it, always run premium fuel, keep up your oil changes, and don't overheat it. You should be fine. Just drive it till it blows.

A compression test is good, but won't give you any indication of the coolant seals, which is another reason for a rebuild.

Sometimes when i start the car up, it takes 4-5sec's and sometimes i hear a pop from the exhaust... i brought the car back single turbo conv and i,ve got the feeling its been clocked! as its reading 41,000km which looks like it done more than that... i might sell this one and buy another one from a trusted place.... any place anyone recommends that can give u FSH???
