Question Engine rebuild problem...?

I had the motor rebuild a few months ago and then the car sat for a while because we had a baby on the way and I couldn't spare the money at the time. Anyway, I finished up the car and it was a difficult to start. We had to use starting fluid to get it going the first time.
It started up and ran fine the next few times (about 10) that I tried. It would start and run fine, no problems, just a high idle. It's around 1200-1400rpms and I checked everything. The real problem is this though... it's not starting now. I can push start it and it'll go fine. When I try to crank it though, it turns over and tries to catch a couple times. Then it'll stop trying and just turn over and over then. I pulled the plugs both times and they were fouled, extremely rich.
Please, I really need some help because I'm really getting frustrated...

Are you letting the car warm up fully EACH time you start and run it? These cars have real problems with flooding, which seems mostly related to not having the thing warm when the injecors are spraying right at shut off. Probably pools fuel, which won't support combustion. The fouling may be from this.

Or you have really screwed up injector cycling.

When the car would start, it ran for AT LEAST 30 minutes each time.
The gas is brand new 93 octane from the same station my buddy with a 94 Touring uses.
How would a stock ECU screw up injector cycling?

Who built the motor? It sounds like it doesn't have healthy compression.

Here's a wierd question: Did you have the injectors cleaned during the rebuild? I'm hearing/reading stories about injectors sticking after cleaning if they aren't run right away after cleaning. Apparantly the cleaning fluid gums things up a little. Could your injectors be stuck slightly open, causing you to run really rich?

I'm about to start a rebuild of my own, and watched the Turrentine rebuild video the other night. He had a section on common mistakes, and listed one as forgettting the injector diffusers. He seemed to say it would cause symptoms similar to yours. Good luck.
