There is really only one way to get a "new" engine and that's from MazdaTrix. I believe the price starts in the $7000 range and goes up.

There are remanufactured engines from Mazda which are NOT new engines. They are standard rebuilds just like any other rebuilder should do. In the past, remans had a bad reputation of using out of spec parts causing them to fail early. Recently, people have been getting them and they have been put together very good. Remans are the cheapest route (aside from doing your own rebuild) when it comes to replacing a blown engine. Also, rebuild prices will vary depending on what needs to be replaced. Reman prices are fixed, what you see is what you pay.

There is really nothing wrong with rebuilds as long as they come from a good shop. If you need a rebuild, just search the forum for the various shop names. You'll find a lot of information from people who have had engines rebuilt from just about everyone.

Hope that helps!
