Engine not straight. Why?
I did not find information about this matter. I'm changing the transmission, drive shaft and differential. In that project I have to delete ppf. I noticed, the engine is not in straight line. Why is that?
Engine orientation cant be adjusted so I think it is meant to be tilted to the right...
It would be so much easier to line up the whole new drive train setup with straight engine.
Thanks,
JP
PS. transmission and differential are both from bmw.

Mazda offset the engine to the left to make room for the very bulky twin turbochargers, down pipe, and the steering linkage for right hand drive. I discovered this back in 07 when I started my 20b swap. Get rid of the twins and build your own engine mounts. I can't stand that word "CAN'T" because it "CAN" be done. You gotta build a tranny cross member anyways so you may as well reposition the engine if you wanna center it.

It's only a couple inches. See the crank pulley in the pic below.
Remember how difficult it is to get the bolts off the A/C compressor? Well when I was fitting my 20b, I had alot more room to install the compressor and, now can get my entire hand around the compressor to unscrew the bolts. That experience is what made me aware of how offset the engine originally was.
