Engine knock

I've been getting a loud knock at the transmission/engine area. It's been knocking for several days. On initial start-up, the engine runs fine but as the engine warms up the knock gets loud. Started the car up this morning and now the whole car shakes, RPM's drop, and sounds like it wants to die. Did a search and found a thread by Damian with the same type of knocking in the same area. Only difference is my engine doesn't make the rattling sound when I rev the engine. Knocks only at idle. Inspected everything around that area and couldn't find anything that would cause the knock. Engine is completely stock with 84k on it. Any suggestions welcome before I start to pull the motor

Does the noise go away when you push in the clutch pedal?

I had a knocking coming from my engine once. It was a bad rotor bearing. It actually sounded like it was coming from the tranny- 5-speed though.

I also believe it's bad bearing. Sounds like a rod bearing going out on a V8. Anyway, I just wanted to post to see if I miss anything before I pull the engine
