Ok so i have a fresh rebuild i just put in and i went to start it and the ground going from the engine to the fire wall totally started melting. I dont know where the heck this came from but am afraid to try to start it again. Can any one chime in on where to start my search or possible problems???

 

Are the rest of your ground wires hooked up, namely the one on the drivers side at the bottom of the engine? It melted because your main grounds are not doing their jobs, and it pulled to much amperage through it.

Ill hook up some more grounds but it just seems if it had that much power running though it something must be wrong??? Well now it seems to be clicking a relay, i will have to look into it some more.

 

+1. That little braided ground won`t carry the current required to roll over a starter. Gotta be bad grounds elsewhere.
Make sure the frame to block ground is attached ( driver side ) & has good clean metal to contact with. If necessary, put a wire brush in the end of a drill & clean the areas off where the heavy grounds contact the block & frame. After you`re done, you can use a little spray paint to paint over the ground ( at the frame ) to keep the exposed metal from rusting.

 

Also my slave cylender line which is steel braided was hot as hell burned me, wtf this makes no sense. Something must be touching somewhere.

It also was being used to conduct current. You have a ground issue you need to find. Did you verify to main ground on the drivers side low on the mtr was connected, clean,and tight? If it is, disconnect it from the engine, disconnect the neg. battery cable and ohm the wire from the the neg battery cable end to the end you disconnected from the engine. Should have 5 or less ohms.

 

I had absolutely the same problem ( thread here about that ). The plastic clip melted because it was the only grounding wire from the engine to the body. So i got a big grounding wire from my car eletrician and the car ran fine after the installation.

As ryan wrote, put a startercable to the - on your battery and the other end to the engine, try starting. The link above from rotory resurrection is really helpfull!!

check the ground from your batt to the body and the driver's side of the engine to the body. the slave line is SS so it was acting as a ground when you tried to start it.

 

Wow i feel really stupid it was the ground i guess i just forgot about it
Now my damn coolent buzzer is going crazy and its a brand new one, what the hell. If its not one thing its the other, but it seem to run good my first rebuild ever was successful..... so far
