emergency question about v band clamp

I was putting my downpipe on better because I had an exhaust leak from not having the v band on correctly and I overtightened it and snapped the stut that the nut goes onto. So now im fucked I wanted to drive the car tomorrow but theres no way I can it would be way too loud and dangerous to start a fire in the engine bay or for me to breathe that stuff. Is there any material that I can use to wrap the downpipe to the back of the exhaust housing? it needs to keep all of the air in and not melt and also not transfer sound through it. Maybe I can pick some stuff up at home depot or what? I dont really care if I rig it please someone give some advise I have to drive my car in less than 20 hours.

overtightening....something that we all learn NOT to do when we have a v-band clamp

I've seen this happen before. Best bet is to try to weld it back on.

You could try getting some exhaust wrap (white fabric-like cloth, soak it in a chemical or water and it hardens after drying) and wrapping that with a sheet of aluminum, then putting some hose clamps around that. I would HIGHLY recommend that you not run around very long at all without your v-band clamp.

Why not get a new clamp? Or like Jspecracer7 said, weld it/have it welded back on. Pretty much the only options here. Most material will not hold up to that kind of heat directly. My DP is wrapped up to the v band but you need that clamp. Home Depot may have the clamps, not sure though.

My v-band clamp has what looks like a regular stainless t-bolt to close it. I'm guessing that's what you broke? Could you just scavenge another t-bolt from another clamp? If not, I guess you could try to use a couple of worm-gear clamps to wrap around the v-band clamp and compress it. Not something I'd do, but if you just had to drive it..
