Lightbulb electrical waterpump

i plan to add an electrical waterpump in the hose between engine and heatercore to prevent heatsoak after shutoff the engine. the volkswagen vr6 engines like the ventos have are equipped with some kind of this. did anyone this before? the pump and the cooling fans should run approx 5 mins after shutting off the engine. post your comments please. greets mike

I was also wondering about this. Actually I was thinking of replacing the stock waterpump with an electric unit, but was concerned that the smoking hot radiator world be overtaxed on those hot days...

That sounds like a good idea to me. I thought about it a while ago, but never did any research. My fans stay on for 10 minutes after shutting the car down, and it would seem that circulating the coolant through the engine during this cooldown period would be very helpful for reliablity. Let us know what you find out.
