electrical problems please help!!

ok well yesterday i was racing my car and then all of a sudden my gauge cluster light went out but the head lights still worked. so today i tried to start my car and it took a while to start it because there was no charge coming from the battery, so I wiggled the positive terminal around and it started. so I was driving to work when my car started going crazy. the abs light kept flashing and so did the odometer reading and it wasn't getting any power when I steped on the gas. it did this in every gear so i pulled over and it stopped. I ended up not going to work to try to fix this problem. I fixed the starting problem by cleaning off the terminals. but the gauge light cluster still doesn't work and my stereo keeps turning on and off. I checked the alternator by unhooking the negative cable while it's running and it kept running fine. the only other thig I thought it could be was the battery or the spark plugs. does anyone else know what it might be or had this happen to them before?

You probably have an issue with the main harness. Somehow it might have become pinched causing random shorts that othervwise don't make sense because those items aren't on the same circuit. You probably need to start taking things out of your engine bay and looking for shorts on any and all electrical harnesses. I don't recommend pulling the battery or alternator out of the loop with while the car is running. You can damage electronics without a battery to stablize the voltage. Do you know how to use a multimeter?
