electrical problem (boost controller shuts off) electrical gurus needed asap

I need all the electrical gurus out there to help me on this one.I just recently purchased a greddy profec b spec2.I have everything hooked up right to the best of my ability and knowledge. The system works fine when my driving lights are shut off.But when I turn on the lights the boost controller seems like its getting power but it ground out. What changes in the cars electrical system when the driving lights turn on? I know that the interior lights also turn on.I had the system hooked up to the cigarette fuse slot.I also spliced my boost gauge power wire into the ashtray light power wire.Could any of this be affecting the other?
At this point im thinkig that maybe a direct connection to the car battery might do the trick.Unfortunately I have the idea but not the knowledge to do it.All I need is maybe someones help on how to hook something up like this if I cant get it to work any other way.I know the system would need an on and off switch.Otherwise running it straight from the battery would mean that the boost controller would stay on even when the car is shut off.If anyone has any ideas please dont hesitate to share what you know and or any ideas that you may think will fix this little mess.Thank you in advance for the help and or ideas everyone.
