Electrical PROBLEM

OK, this past thursday, my battery light and everything other light came on. Then the car wanted to die, I had to keep my foot on the throttle to keep it running, once I took it off, the car died. This has already happened once when my alternater went out 3 years ago. So, I took my alternater to autozone, to have it tested, sure enough, it is good. I ask the guy at autozone, what could it be. He looked at my alternater and he said that the hot wire that runs to the alternater was arcing. He could tell by the bolt that is on the alternater and the plastic shrouding was scroched, melted, or burnt(however you wanna call it). I go back to my car, and the hot wire is rather brittle. What do you guys think? How does one remedy this?

Here is the nice little juicy update.

My friend(delslow), came out and looked at it with me. We tear into it all, screw around, can seem to figure anything out. He looks at the wire, and he thinks it isn't bad at all. He says it is normal. After everything, we descided to try and start it. I said" dude I tried starting it less than 24 hours ago, it won't start", sure as ****, it started with no hesitation, and we drove it home. We put like 15 or so miles on it, then drove it home. It had no issues at all.

What do you guys think now?

It was probably grounding itself out, the exact same thing happened to me when i had my talon but mine started on fire. I had a lot of extra electrical stuff to hooked up but when i got rid of all of it all, all the problems went away.
