Electric Temperature Guage Question

I am in the process of installing my Autometer Electric Water Temperature gauge.

I have decided to place the sensor in the stock location, since it is supposed to fit without any tapping.

Is it necessary to drain the coolant before removing the stock water temperature sensor?

Thanks for your help.

You may need to drain it a little bit or just take one of those baster thingy's and suck the coolant out if it's to high.

Take the cap off... You should be able to tell if you will need to drain... But if you keep her full, you should have to. But, the Autometer sensor does not fit in the stock location.
