EGR, stuck open or closed?

my EGR was leaking vacuum so I plugged the lines. question is wether it is open, closed or leaking. I tested the posistion sensor on it, and if I applied vacuum really quickly above 5inhg the sensor woudl go open. Is it possible the vvalve is leaking, or stuck open? how do I tell for sure. SHould I just block the damn thing off with a plate?

Thanks

Dont know why you would want to even keep the egr valve in use its not necessary. You can just take the vacum line of and cap the open ends as outlined on Robinettes site. Hope that helps.

The best thing to do would be to make a block off plate and remove it completly. If an EGR valve sticks open the car would idle like crap. what you can do to test it is to apply vaccum to the egr valve while the car is running, if the idle changes with vaccum applied, then idle returns to normal when vaccum is released then the EGR is working fine.

The EGR valve is closed when there is no vacuum.
