EGR Relay fooler circuit question
Okay so I have a 94 right now 5 spd with the code 16 and I want to do the relay mod that fools the ecu into believing its still functioning....well after some searching I found a bunch of threads and found this photo
okay so all is good it kinda seems like it makes sense ...
Lemme see if im getting this straight
First buy relay with 5 prongs (where did you guys buy this? any local place?)
then locate those wires on ecu
then connect Wire A to positive side of coil
and wire B to negative side of coil...
****FIRST QUESTION does it say on the relay which side of the coil is + or -? does it even matter?
*****SECOND QUESTION Then it says wire B gets cut insulated and floated...well what the crap does floated mean?
been working on cars for 12 years and never heard that term for wiring
If it means just cut that wire and wire it only to the relay then why even bother showing it traveling somewhere else on the diagram? confusing
then wire C goes to the normally closed position and Wire D gets cut and wired only to the relay assuming thats what the diagram means by X*
someone clarify this seems super simple and better than waiting and buying a non cali ecu
so yeah any help is appreciated
thanks

1. For that particular relay, the polarity of the coil isn't important. In other words the two coils pins are interchangeable, so don't worry which one is which. If you end up with a different relay, make sure not to get one with an 'integrated diode' in the coil and you should be OK.
2. 'Float' just means don't connect it to any other circuit or wire. You will want to insulate the wire (by covering it with tape) so it can't get accidentally shorted to the chassis or any other wires.
