ECU Power & Cranking Problem

I recently put my motor back in along with the wiring. Once I got it all in I wanted to check that I had power everywhere and everything worked. This was about 2 weeks ago and everything worked, wipers, blinkers, windows, ECU, Starter, fuel pump, and etc. The only isssue here was that the starter cranked slowly. So I fully charged the battery (New Optima Red top, 1000 CCA) and had the same results. This led me to get another starter.

So yesterday, in an attempt to fix the problem I swapped the starters. This did not fix the problem and actually made the issue worse. The ECU no longer comes on (PFC) and the starter was acting very strange. Sometimes it would engage and crank slowly. Other times it would engage and not crank or just the solenoid would click on. The strangest thing was when it would engage and crank very strangely, like it was turning on and off. It will also suddenly stop cranking when it is trying to for no reason, Like in the beginning of the video, I didnt let go of the ignition, it just stopped.

I checked power and all grounds, everything turned out good. Also tried the "Click/Click Start" issue remedy with no luck. I have added a video of the car trying to crank, unfortunately the sound wasnt good on the Iphone so you cant really hear it. Any ideas?

Thanks for your help,
Ryan

I am having the exact same problem and cannot figure out what is wrong. Anybody with thoughts? Sometimes everything cranks great. Next time nothing. Next time a "half crank" then fine again.

Thanks,
Justin

Problems solved. Turns out the starter I swapped in had some corrosion and the brushes were stuck. Quick clean up and everything looks new. Cranks like a champ now.

Just take your starter apart and clean it up. Very simple. If that doesnt work get new brushes. The brushes in my old starter were incredibly worn, that is why that one cranked very slow.
