Unhappy Injector problem, ECU fried?

I installed a new PowerFC in my car about a month ago and it ran fine without any problems. Then, last week I installed a SMIC (Pettit CoolCharge II). Immediately afterwards, the car started running extremely rich and it couldn't even keep idle. I tracked down the problem to a primary injector that fired continuously (i could hear the ticking sound when i turned the key on start), even when the engine wasn't running. That lead me to believe that it wasn't stuck open, but rather, it was the computer telling it to constantly spray. So, to make sure, I swapped in my stock ECU and then everything ran fine.

Is there anything else that could cause this behavior, or is my PFC fried? What do you suppose could have caused this to happen? I find it hard to believe that I shorted some wires during the SMIC install, since it was a simple drop-in replacement for the stock IC.

Thanks for any suggestions...

reset the ECU and let it re-learn for some reason the IC could be causing problems with the interaction with the injector (i have no idea why) but letting your ECU relearn will probaly fix it

Wow, that was easy. It looks like resetting the PFC did the trick. I wonder how it got into that wierd state in the first place...
