eccentric shaft

Does anybody know if the eccentric shafts are interchangeable between different generations? My 3rd gen has some wearing but I have a 2nd gen parts car and access to a 1st gen motor.

I have an older 13B eccentric shaft in my car. I think it was an 84. It has no thermal pellet (to fail) and costs half as much. Been running 370+ RWHP for 25K miles with no damage to the shaft (just rebuilt engine for other reasons).

Max,

What is the difference in the end of the shaft for there to be no pellet? Do you mean you just used the Atkins Bypass plug? Or is the end actually machined out further to butt up against the e-shaft front bolt? No worries if you don't know for sure, just curious

Also i know that the FC e-shafts will work in the FD engines. Some people complained alot about getting a FC shaft when they bought a FD engine

I think the pre-FC 13B eccentric shafts just simply had no thermal pellet. I think the years are actually 74-85 for the 13B shaft I am using. I don't have the Atkins plug, and I have no stock pellet. It is just an older shaft that doesn't use one. They are like $225 instead of $425. I am not aware of any issues with oiling or shaft strength, and if there are issues I think I would know about them, at least for engines around the 400RWHP level.

Thanks for the reply!
So, there's no difference in the oil jets at all? And are the fc shafts as strong also?

I don't know what the specific differences are beyond what I posted. I assume there are some differences that I don't know about. However, I can tell you that I am using a 74-85 13B shaft in an FD engine with moderately high HP (and driven hard, including an occasional open track day) and haven't had any trouble with it.

74-85 13b's do NOT have a thermal pellet, they didnt use them until 1986
