How do you rate your hort shifter and did it come with a little rubber fitting to go over it like this B&M short shifter http://www.apneablue.com/rx7/photos/...bm_shifter.jpg ?

The replicas do not have the rubber boot. Instead it is a solid one peice unit. There is a plate on the top though that allows access to the parts. I don't know if the intenals are exactly the same. No one has posted what the inside of the B&M looks like.

I was just wondering if the lack of the rubber boot would cause later on rusting even though it is painted up?

I bought one of the ebay short shifters last month. Haven't installed it yet, but I noticed that the B&M shifter comes with a rubber boot and the others don't. I thought it would be nice to have the boot to try to reduce noise and seal the shifter/tranny. Contacted B&M to see if I could buy a "repalcement boot for the used B&M shifetr I bought." They won't sell the boot separately. You have to buy the whole kit to get the boot.
Anyone have problems with having no boot (smell, noise, etc.) Anyone know where I can buy a boot that will fit? Will the stock boot fot over the aftermarket shifter housing?

get the ebay one, your stock boots will slip over it. pat yourself on the back for being smart and not paying 3 times as much for a shifter with a name attached to it.

BTW they are aluminum, it won't rust
