Earl's oil t-stat question

Strarting a new engine today with dual earls oil coolers and an oil t-stat.

When building initial oil pressure during start up, should the t-stat allow oil to go throught the entire system?

Thought the oil t-stat would prevent oil from going to the coolers until operating temp is reached.

This is a pic of the oil t-stat Im using, the lines are all connected properly.

It will prevent the oil from flowing through the coolers (mostly, as rfreeman27 pointed out, it will allow a slight amount of flow) until the car is warmed up. You MUST allow the car to come up to full temp so that oil is free flowing through the coolers. You won't be able to verify that you have no leaks without doing this.
