Duel BOV's

I was wondering if any of you guys ever ran Dual BOV's, is there any benifit or ill effects with this, I have a HKS SSQV Dual setup on my 300zx and was wondering if its pointless or not on the RX7's, I already have a hks ssqv on my 7 and just bought the newer version that came out and wanted to place that one on my IC pipe......

Thanks

stock twins have "dual BOVs" if you're running non-sequential.

Dual BOVs are pointless on this car. They are good for the 300ZX because the Z has 2 plenums, but the RX-7 has one and thus no requirement for dual BOVs.

If you have stock twins, any aftermarket BOV is a waste of money.

Well they only have one, the other is the CRV, but thats in sequential which i have, and I know what you mean by the 300zx comparison, and i know that i dont really need a bov for my twin setup but im working on an upgraded twin setup so i dont mind having them before...

My buddy's running dual bovs. Ic to intake plenum & ic to turbos. Mind you, he bought his FD the way it is. Any disadvantage(s) to this?

in that case, you can do whatever you want but you won't see any advantages from running 2 BOVs, it's just another potential boost leak, IMO.

There's no real advantage to doing so. You would be better off adding a Pop-off Valve instead of second aftermarket BOV. That could provide at least some benefit.

The pop-off valve works by opening at a certain PSI level instead of opening at a certain vacuum level. This helps in case you have a failure in your boost control system, the pop off valve will blow open to keep the boost from rising over whatever you have configured.

If you're thinking of running the BNR Stage 3's (or '99 spec turbo's) than I don't believe you will need an external BOV at all unless you want the "psssht!" sound. Both the '99 Spec's and the BNR's have an internal blow off system which works the same way as the stock twins.

I'm all for not advertising my presence to the cops (exhaust kinda kills that thought though) any more than I need to. But thats just me ^_^

Well, Im not going to be getting neither of those setups, Im attempting in a Custom Twin Turbo setup, where i have each turbo to one rotor, that being said as for my presence with the cops it doesnt matter, I could have the quietest car and Still get pulled over. The suburb where i live is VERY strict and the cops are a BIG pain.

fendamonky, ,Do you know the differance between a Wastegate and a blow off valve ? I think not . Maybe I am wrong but I think the internal valve is a waste gate . Have I been porting BOVs for people by mistake ?

I think he meant because the stock BOVs are recirculated...

Yes I do, but thanks for looking out. Apparently SLOASFK understood what I was saying. I'll try to use smaller words for you in the future.

Unless of course Rynberg didn't know what he was talking about when he told me that an aftermarket BOV wasn't necessary for the BNR Stage 3's (https://www.rx7club.com/showthread.php?t=660169). Shoot me for trying to help possibly save the guy some money.
