Ducting

OK so I am going to make up some alloy ducting to run to my intercooler/radiator.

Should I run it boxed straight to the i/c then back to the radiator so there is no gaps and air forced to go through i/c before rad...or could I just run it boxed straight to the radiator, with gaps around the i/c? Would the air be more inclined to avoid the i/c and go straight to rad or will it be fine?
See pic to help explain what I mean

I also have been looking at options to get my air filter more isolated because it's in a far from perfect place. There is no space to run ducting anywhere to front bumper through where rad/i/c are. So here are my two ideas..
1: Cut out the plastic wheel liner in red, and make a sealed alloy box from and heat and run a cold air duct from the front bumper to it.
2: As in the green, move the battery to the boot, and run the filter where the battery used to be.

Opinions?

since its a front mount you need to focus the ducting on the radiator. you need to seal it off very well to whichever heat exchanger you are using, air tends to go where it wants so you need to tell it where you want it to go.

Lots of dirt and dust to filter out of the air in the wheel well, I would look somewhere else for intake air.

^ The idea would be to have it in a sealed box, with a pipe coming from from bumper so it was sucking only air coming in from front, not the wheel well. But after having a look, pulling it across to where the batt is, is probably a better position, I can get kill two birds with one stone then too, chucking batt to boot.
