Duct for GREDDY SMIC???
Thanks for those who responded to my recent question about overheating. I decided to fully attack the problem, and I'm changing the waterpump, thermostat, and fluid.
While doing so, I took off my Greddy SMIC to have more room, and to clean it. I was shocked to see how little the stock duct was.
Is there anybody out there who has either fabricated, or knows of an aftermarket duct system that will allow more flow to the Greddy SMIC.
In the future when $$ is available, I think I will go to a V-mount with ducted hood, but in the mean time, there's got to be a simple method to get more air to the intercooler. Is there any threads on opinions of the V-mount system, where purchased, or who installed, and how its liked, or not????
Thanks
Galo

You can get a Pettit duct (for their CoolCharge II IC) or a PFS duct. You will have to do a lot of trimming and work to get it to fit correctly. If you do replace the stock duct, you will be happy at the increased airflow and the weight savings.....
dude - search on my name and pettit. I got the duct some weather stripping and it fit like a glove. Keep in mind I reformed the duct with a torch to make it fit w/ a 100% seal. I was really frustrated trying to make aluminum shielding on the stocker and am very pleased with this.
I also made a air flow redirecting tray to redirect that hot air from baking the bottom of the IC. Doesn't prevent heat soak, but like to think it helps....
pm me with questions.
one of the reasons the duct needed to be reformed was the stock form (mold) that Pettit makes the ducts from is collapsing on one side and they aren't inclined to fix it. This results in a 3/4 - 1" gap on the battery side. Heating the corners and applying pressure allows you to reform.

You will not get more air flow with a Pettit duct. You are still limited to the 6x1" opening. Even the M2 large has the same tiny 6x1" opening. You can try and seal off any gaps and make it a tighter fit.
