drop springs vs coil overs for FD
Other than adjusting height of car does coil overs offer any advantages over drop springs? For example: would an Eibach pro-kit work just as well as a coil over set-up with similar spring rates using GAB shocks?
thanks

Re: drop springs vs coil overs for FD
There are a few advantages from using a coil over setup than just using a drop spring:
1. Since each corner's height is adjustable, you can balance all the corner weights to get the best handling out of your car.
2. The coil over springs have a huge selection on the spring rate. You can use the best spring rate for the type of racing you do.
3. The coil over shock usually has a shorter body so you will have less chance of bottom-out. And most coil over have stiffer springs so you will have less chance of bottom out.
If you are not serious about racing, a drop spring setup should be better for you. Coil overs are much more expensive than drop springs. $1000-2000 vs $250. If you just want to look cool and have a little better handling than stock setup, go with the drop springs and save yourself some money. If you are going on differnt tracks all the time, get a coil over and be ready to have a few sets of springs with differnt sprign rates on hand so you can swap them out for differnt tracks.
