Driving your FD aggressively and getting away with it.

How many of you find yourself occasionally driving in such a manner that by the time you get home and park your car in the garage, you are just kind of shaking your head in wonderment that you didn't get caught?
I'm not talking being stupid, but with these cars....man, sometimes you suddenly realize you are running 100 - 120 mph or more and not really intending to.
And on occasion, you might just go make a hell-run where you REALLY go crazy...
Regardless, the point is I can drive my other vehicles and pretty much stay semi in control, but cars like the FD are just damned near LUGGING at anything less than 80!

I realize your environment plays a big part, and around here with SO much wide-open space and so little traffic....it is hard to not go "have some fun"....lol!

i feel the same way, but here in west palm beach there is a cop every 50 feet, so you have to be careful or be ready to run. I wish I was back in PA. Tons of back roads and not enough cops

I must admit that I like to play a bit. I always make sure that I do it when traffic isn't an issue, and I'm always on the lookout for the police

Just last weekend after a friend's birthday party...most of us live on other side of town so we had to drive all the back...no car pool this time. It was pretty clear out and late at night...just had some fun-quick sprints..no racing but just playing tag...side to side...slow down...speed up...etc. Fortunately, no cops were around and we got home safely. It's moments like these makes owning an FD great...but any sports car really!

i completely agree. I dont think i have been in my car and not did 100 plus mph (providing i had room and the car was running correctly). I have recently discovered some new roads that look like they are going to be a blast to drive. Now if i can only get my car back together (changing FMIC). Cant wait!!!

Yep. Just did one two night ago...I was passing cars like it was standing still...PFC peak at 187 kph.

If I crashed...I wouldn't be here now.
If I got pull over...probably just got out from jail.

Seem like every time I got behind the wheel of the 7 I can't keep under 100mph...of course when conditions are right.

Its hard as hell not to speed with a FD,the car only starts feeling good at 100mph. Anything under that the car feels anxious,or maybe its just me feeling that way.Thank god its my weekend toy or i think my lic.would be at risk.I feel everones pain when driving these cars slow. But just remember speed smart and stay safe.

I have a RSX and a RX7 and I find myself speeding more in the RSX than in the rx7.

When i drive the RSX I get real pissed if someone passes me or stupid **** like that so I feel like I have to drive 20 over, I'm not sure why. In the RX7 I know I'm in a badass car and don't have to drive around fast for people to know I'm in a badass car.

That being said the first time I took it out onto the highway I gave it a little gas and looked down and was going 110, felt like 70 or 80.

Man everytime I fire the 7 and try and granny it, it becomes a drug I fiend to clear carbons up. Maybe its the love and feel or especially the unique and sexy sound of the rotary motor. It might just be the handling characteristics or maybe just the adrenaline rush to drive it like its stolen lol. I nearly always find myself doinga buck 20 or so. The windy roads are another story if there is no traffic im on Hot Version Vol. Coming Back From Work. Hahhaa

Yes.

Like why i would do a highway pull to about 110-120 without having my radar detector on.

Why i would do WOT in 1st and 2nd turning onto a 2 lane city street (not alot of cars).

Sometimes i get home and be like damn thank god i didnt get into an accident or got a ticket.

So thats why i try to keep the play time down to a minimum.

pssssh, yeah right! In all seriousness, I try to keep it reasonable, but of course there is always some kind of excuse as to why I'm ***** to the wall. I also loved seein the looks of lil guys that wished they had my car (boys on their bikes) when I'm slippin sideways around a corner. An then they try an chase after me on their bmx's. Lol, give them somethin to talk about for the rest of the day

Yeah, it is hard to legally have fun in an FD on public streets. I am definitely guilty of some WOT runs and spirited driving, but I like to think I am safe about it. I'll be having fun with it on the track soon enough, hopefully that will help out a bit lol.

I like to haul *** in every car, but it seems like the older I get, the more scared I get of top speed runs and police. I also find that going to the track a lot helps me get some of it out of my system legally. (I go to the drag strip and driving events like Rev It Up and Zoom Zoom Live).
I am not sure if Gran Turismo helps or makes you drive more aggressively, but I think everyone's guilty of speeding regularly to some degree. You guys just be safe. Car accidents are horrible, and losing you license really really sucks.

I'm surprised I haven't had a ticket in a few years....*knocks on wood* I always keep a look out for the po-po and try to be smarter at night. Come to think of it...that's when I got a majority of my tickets.
