Driveshaft u-joints replacement questions...

I got the call today from the shop. The 7 is up in the air and looks as thou the u-joints are shot on the driveshaft. So question is can you replace the u-joints or do I need to get a new driveshaft? Are the Aluminum shafts worth the money over the stock ones?

Thanks
Carl

I purchased a non Mazda replacement from Driveshaft Specialist Inc.
Cheaper and works like the original. Has replaceable U-Joints that also can be greased.
Has been on for over 21,000 miles.

Driveshaft U-joint failures are SUPER rare. I would probably just get a good used driveshaft and call it a day.

With the Powerplant frame, the driveshaft doesn't end up flexing much if ever, so the load on the U-joints is extremely low.

I actually have a manual and an auto driveshaft.

The U joints move fine, but do "lock" slightly when its centered.
I'm not sure if this means they are bad, or how a brand new one feels.
