I had the same problem and it was ampified when it rained.

The grove that the window is guided up and down, particularily by the door handle side, can wear out with age just like the felt trim along the top of the door panel. I sprayed WD40 on it and ran the window up and down. I did this in the morning for a few days and it has helped.

I'm going to pull the door panel off next and make sure all the nuts and bolts are as they should be, but that rubber guide is your best bet. A new one from Ray is in the hundred dollar + range and it goes from inside the door panel on one side, across the top of the door and back in.

The motor starts to wear out because of the extra resistance.

Mine did that as well several years ago. . .almost to the point that it wouldn't go up! WD40 and making sure the track was clean and properly aligned took care of it and I haven't had a problem since.

I have this EXACT same problem...the driver window will go down fine, but is extremely sluggish until it is about halfway up, at which point it seems to break free and work normally.

Thanks for the info people! Gotta love stumbling across a solution to a problem I didn't even plan on asking about!

+1 to that

i've had this problem on both of my FD's

i always just use my hand to pinch the top of the glass and make sure it gets up.

at one point i tried using some sort of wd-40 or something to grease the track, but it didn't help for very long

i'm sure it would help if you open up the door and tighten everything up.
