Question Drifting Line Lock - Anyone Have Images?

1. Is there a place that I can place a roll control line lock under the car in between the abs and the rear brakes?

2. Does anyone have an image of how they mounted theirs? I found these two posts but they are doing things a bit differently:

3. Will line locks solenoids burn up if i leave it turned on for an hour straight?

I would like to have a way to disconnect my rear brakes at a click of a button. Next weekend I am going drifting and would like to control my drift speed by using the front brakes.

When activated, it will not allow brake pressure to reach the rear brakes. The brake pedal will be able to modulate the front brakes only while not moving the rear brakes. When it is not activated, the system should perform as if it isn't there and allow both brakes to function.

I believe the line lock must be reversed from its normal orientation since it must block the brake pressure from going from the master cylinder to the rear brakes instead of holding the pressure in between the front brakes and the master cylinder.

I would like to attempt to not cut any lines and put the line lock in place of a union instead.

I have these three line locks in my possession and plan to use the best fitting one:

Thank you!

Ive never heard of wanting to use front brakes only for drifting.. I can think of many times I was glad to have braking on all 4 corners while drifting. Whats the point in doing so?

The main reason will be to create more smoke and to control my speed since I am not good at doing so right now.

If i floor it through a turn to get the wheels loose, my speed may be 2x what i am comfortable with but if I am using half the throttle, the back end may not kick out. Here I will be able to keep the rear wheels spinning at a car speed that I am comfortable with.

I would worry about getting on the brakes and it causing you to spin. Ive seen people working the brake (all 4 wheels) to create more smoke but left foot braking in a real car is alien to me.

I dont know how much drifting youve done or what your technique is. You should be able to simply flick the car at a speed youre comfortable with to get the rear to break traction, modulate speed from there with the gas pedal. Once youre comfortable doing that then you can worry about more entry speed, e brake slides and the smoke show.

If you’re beyond that level then you can ignore me, just trying to help. Sorry i cant add to what you’re looking to do.

Any help is suggested, this will only be my third drift day! The past two have been on an autocross type track where i couldn't damage anything. Now it is on a paved track with grass ditches and tires so I will have to be more careful. This may not be the direction I should be heading, so thank you for the advice I did a ride along in a gto where he connected a small straight that no one else could by using the brake and moving forward in a dog tracked angle kind of way. I figured i could do that around the track if needed, but more spin outs may occur!

For only your third drift event, I wouldn't be worrying about the line lock. Keep it simple, can you do donuts and figure 8's clockwise and counter clockwise? Are you able to enter corners consistently without over rotating? Can you manji (which will allow you to link corners if they are spaced too far apart)? Manji'ing will solve you whole line lock situation and depending on the corner you can always use your ebrake.

You're over thinking this by a ridiculous amount. Still being very new to drifting, just go out and get as much seat time as you can. I've never heard of anyone doing anything that's you're describing, from beginner grassroots to pros. Don't worry about more smoke, jusy focus on techniques like when to let the wheel go and when to catch it, letting the car self steer, etc. Smoke will come with more wheel speed, and that will come with experience and being more comfortable on track. You're gonna spin out and go off track, it happens to everyone. Learn from mistakes, have more experienced drivers both drive your car and sit as passenger.
