Exclamation Drag racing FMIC?

OK, before I get pointed to the top right corner of the screen please know that I have looked for hours and I am still not sure.

Well I was ripped off from the ******* in Colorado and nowI need to purchase another FMIC. Which one does everyone feel is the best performance orientated FMIC availale? I do not care about looks and please don't start the SMIC dicussion.
I am debating between the:
Apex'i GT FMIC w/ Intakes -- $1450
Greddy 2-row FMIC -- $950
HKS FMIC -- $1289
Blitz FMIC -- $1295

I have a Trust Intake kit on order but it is on backorder so I may switch it to another intake as well. That is why the Apex'i kit is listed with the intake.

Cost is an issue but these prices are all fairly close so performance is the main objective here.

I know about the RX7 Fashion one and the StreetFighter FMIC but they are a little too pricey for me right now after I threw $700 down the toilet.

whoo...Everyone agrees that Greddy is the best!!!

...could be that I'm the 1st post...

I've actually got a Feed FMIC. The Greddy 3 core would be ideal. My FMIC is the same size as the 3 core and I don't get any pressure drop(to my knowledge anyways)

I am not running enough boost for the Greddy 3-row FMIC. They say 15lbs and higher which is max for my twins. I need it to get a FMIC by yesterday so time is of the essence.
You damn Okinawa people, FEED! Damn you all!

Hey sorry Lane Change! I've heard a lot of good things about the apexi i.e. fitting.

The Greddy 2-row(from my understanding) takes a lot more work to install.

If you're going to do it yourself, then ideally it would be the apexi.

The other two, I have had NO experience on. Sorry!

...and my FEED IC was a pain in the @$$!!!...well not really, but it was hard...but for $500 w/piping and BOV...not too bad.

Local shop owner here says Apexi IC construction is bad. He says GReddy is the best. BUT he's a GReddy dealer.

Damn Scott, sorry to hear that... Give me a ring, I'll ride up to CO with ya.

I've heard good things about the GReddy FMIC in both performance and installation. I've heard the Blitz kit requires a little more effort for the installation, but I remember reading a thread a while back about the Blitz performing better than the GReddy. I'll see if I can find it.

Here's a how-to about installing the Greddy if you decide to get it:

Good luck!

I used to run an M2 large. Great intercooler, as long as you're moving. If you drag race the thing heat soaks way too much. High intake temps cost me my motor a few months ago. I went with the Greddy 2 row. I felt it was the best for the price, and several people I know have it and it works well. Originally I was going to purchase the one for stock twins for $950 and fabricate my own piping to the turbo. But it was on backorder and I couln't wait. I ended up buying the single turbo one. I feel the 3 row is too thick and won't allow enough air to the radiator. Its also a bitch to fit. The Apexi is nice, but the core doesn't fill the front end very nicely, especially if you have an aftermarket bumper. That and I can't stand the stupid blue piping. Don't know about the HKS or Blitz.

Heard good things about the blitz but it is like the apexi in the fact that it does not fill up the front very well. Not too many people have it that I know of....
My vote is for the greddy 2 row- thats what I am saving up for

Can you put a 99 spec front end and still run a Greddy 3 row FMIC. Sorry for off the topic. Marc

I'm sure you can, but you'll need to trim.

I think the shop trimmed about 3/4" off my FEED Type II with a Greddy 2 row FMIC.

Damn, you bastards

I want A Panspeed FMIC or V-Mount! (LOL)

Has anyone used or even seen in person the Turbostreetfighter or the XS-Engineering true front mount (no radiator relocation)?

Blitz! The Blitz fmic is SUPER easy to install, way easier than any of the other options you listed simply because you do not have to remove the front bumper skin and cut the sh*t out of the car to make it fit. The core is very thick, much thicker than a Greddy 2-row.. on the lines of 4" if I remember correctly. It mounts the intercooler/radiator combo into a V-position rather than standing the radiator straight up vertically so cooling is improved over other kits in that department. It also fits well with the stock bumper, sits back in the mouth a bit so rock damage is reduced.. there are so many pluses to the Blitz kit. If you have any questions PM me, installed mine myself and love it so far.

Well everyone I have contacted says the Greddy 2-row FMIC is out of stock for a couple of weeks so I will have to go with one of the other three. Any more input would be great.
I am leaning towards the Blitz FMIC or the HKS FMIC but nobody on here seems to know much about the HKS units.
Thanks,
Scott

Thumbs up Matt's Blitz looks tight!

There is/was an HKS FMIC for sale last week (check for sale section). I can tell you it will not work with the old R12 air conditioner, so either remove or replace to the new one. "93 & some '94's have the old R12 air.

I wanted the XS engineering FMIC but it seems they discontinued it. The RX7fashion FMIC also uses the Apexi core. The TurboStreetFighter uses a Spearco core. All 3 of these kits are true front mount "no rad' or air' relocation"!

So the question are: IS Spearco's core better than Apexi's core? Which lets more air through? WHich handles more boost?

for a drag car you should also consider a air to water cooler

Holy ****....it is alive again. Cool....because I am debating another FMIC for the new FD. I have had a Greddy 3 row on my last FD, and I have had a Blitz 3 row on my last FD, and I have had a Blitz SMIC on my last FD, and I have had a M2 Large SMIC on my current FD. Now I am looking into another FMIC for my current FD.

How are the polls going? 2 years and only 35 votes? You people are lazy.

I am debating Greddy 2 row or the HKS....I want something to fill the mouth of my FEED front end..since the Blitz and Apex'i sit too far back for my liking. I am going with a set of BNR stage 2 twins, nothing crazy this time....for now at least.

I have the greddy 2 row and love it. No experience with the others. You tear the car apart to put it on but its good experience and you can yank your a/c, p/s and foglights while your there!
