Downpipe AND Midpipe - or DOWNPIPE ONLY???

I am stock with Catback Exhaust and K&N Intake.

I have heard that i need a DOWNPIPE ONLY and NOT
the midpipe between the downpipe and the catback.

IS THIS CORRECT?

WHY NOT on the midpipe?

any info is helpful....

also, which is a good one for cheap?? (downpipe)

the downpipe replaces the pre-cat and the midpipe replaces the main cat. It depends what you WANT to replace? If you want, you can buy both, none or one.

you should start by replacing the downpipe first and then later on the midpipe (with the appropriate fuel mods). If you replace the downpipe, your engine temps will be lower, the turbos will breathe better and also the car will have a lot more power. As far as the midpipe is concerned, it will give you substantial horsepower gains (provided your car doesn't run lean) but if you remove the main cat and replace it with a midpipe, the car will be obnoxiously loud and also stink too.

get both but also get a boost controller, even a manual one should be fine for a while!

got both of them for less then 400. Just make sure you have a boost guage and watch out for those boost spikes that you might have during the turbo transition period. seriously, you can say bye bye to your engine if that happens. In any case, also get a air/fuel guage, you'll be able to know if your car is running lean on WOT. DP and MP create huge hp gains on twin turbo cars, but especially on the rx7's you need to take your fuel system into consideration.. all the time!!

The voice of reason. You will most likely see boost creep (I'm not talking spike--that's the least of your worries) with a full exhaust and stock (read: unported) wastegate. Go with a high flow cat. I know where you can get a quality one--PM me if interested, or if you have any more midpipe questions....the motor you save may be your own .

Yes, and (with a stock ecu) YES. It will also be as loud as all holy hell and attract cops like you can't believe. Don't forget about the foot-long flames when you let off the gas
