double throttle knowledge verification

Since the double throttle is vacuum solenoid controlled a leak in this system is contained in this system and affects no other vacuum controlled system. The only thing I loose is the operation of the double butterfly's in the throttle body. And as long as the solenoid is electrically connected to the car I should not get any error codes even if disconnected.
Tell me I am right or what the holes are in my the knowledge. Thanks

i drilled mine out after breaking the nipple off the solinoid. no ill effects. on older TII's this was controlled via the temp with coolant and would occasionaly clog causing low boost. this is my experience with it anyway.
there are writeups all over on the net on removing it.

Here's a nice pick of my DT removed and some good info as well. Just scroll down about 2/3rds of the way to get to the DT removal part.

I removed my solenoid and didn't get any error codes with the stock ecu.

Are you 100% sure about that? sounds like you are talking about the fast idle unit which just happens to cover the double throttle kingpin. TII's double throttle should work the same as the N/A, actuated by the throtte linkage, and a coolant activated switch along with a solenoid and actuator.
Hmm. nevermind, maybe you are right.

Jonski just helped me remove mine...I tried to drill mine out but ended up just beating the **** out of it with a hammer and used a dremel to cut it into about 6 pieces and then yanked them out ...I left the DT solenoid inplace (as recommended by Jonski) or you can use a resistor in its place. However, my car is still not back together and I don't know if it will run when I put it back together but that's why we are all here, to help each other out...thanks everyone for not flaming me during my NewBhood...this site rocks!
