Door Switches -- How to Hook them up?
Door Switches -- How to Hook them up?
Just received new door switches from Ray, ours have been long gone. Anyway, can't figure out how they hooked up, maybe they have changed from ours.
Picture shows the in-car wiring on the right with the male prong, but the new switch on the left also has a male prong and not exactly the same either. Am I missing some pieces? Did I order the wrong switches? Can't remember way back when if there was more to it or not. Any help appreciated.

It could be possible the "male" connector that is in the harness is the part that broke off.
Remove it from the connector and plug in the new "male" into the harness...
Hope that solves it for you..

The new ones are a different design because they are from a later Mazda car.
I put them in my FD a few years ago.
From your question it appears that you are electrically/electronics challenged.
Go to a auto or electical store and buy two different size shielded female spade connectors that match the two males. Joined them together on a short piece of wire. Then insert this "JUMPER" bewtween the the switch and connector.
You will also need wire strippers and a crimping tool.

^ I agree with this, using pliers pull off the piece in the connector and plug in your new sensor.
The original door switch had a female connector built into the tip. The small spade on the wire went to it. These original door switches were not robust and the female end was thin plastic which would easily crack.
