is this an information gathering website or a vocabulary exercise. I just removed the air pump off my series 8 mazda rx7, now there seems to be air coming from the steel pipe on the car where the air pump was connected to. Have I got the piping wrong when re-installing or is this normal. The air is coming from the bottom steel pipe next to the secondary turbo intake. I have pod filters fitted and aren't quite sure I have got it right

I think the pipe you are describing connects to the catalytic converter. The air coming out of the pipe would be exhaust gases. If you look underneath the car you should be able to see where the metal pipe turns into a rubber hose (about where the transmission is located) and then connects to your cat.

^ he is right. its exhaust coming out of your catalytic converter. exhaust gas is just finding another exit route besides your tailpipe. you could get a block off plate and put this to a stop.

fyi...if your still running the stock cat, its not always best to do this since over time the cat could get clogged.
