does this look like a good deal?
Hi, Everybody
I' wondering if this looks like a good deal.
http://honolulu.craigslist.org/oah/cto/2022606844.html
I've talked to him about it but didn't check it out yet.
"it will need some body scratches fixed if you want it perfect otherwise body is strait only one small 4 inch run on a wheel well nothing major. its painted dark green." Blue is not green so that makes me worried.
"NEW:water pump, belts, tires, pads, rotors, trans oil cooler, braking system, dashboard trim made from cf, front re amemiya strut brace, m2 cf air air box, godspeed rad, samco hoses. Brand new!
compression of the engine i do not know.... the plates are in storage so no need to pay any back taxes or fees."
Plates are in storage so that means he hasn't been driving for awhile and unknown engine.
Now compare to this:

I don't live on maui but shipping shouldn't be that much.

If the first one really has 70K or more on the engine its more likely than not on its last legs and will probably need to be replaced soonish.
I say find a 7 guy in Hawaii that is willing to check it out with you, and/or recommend a rotory shop that you should take it to and have it looked at. If they say its good then I'd probably spring for it, as 6500 is pretty cheap in my opinion. If the owner is uncomfortable for ANY reason with having it inspected by a rotory shop then I would WALK THE HELL AWAY.
