Does anyone know what hose this is?

Hey guys

I've just begun changing the radiator hoses in my 7 and discovered this hose sitting loose and unattached in my engine bay. It was positioned to the rear of the stock airbox. Anyone know what it is and where it should be? Nothing appears to be missing in the engine bay and I suspect it has been there for some time as a bug crawled out of it as I moved it!

If it is the hose I'm thinking, it is supposed to be just hang there.

Sounds like you need a Factory Service Manual. Also, "search" is here for a reason. After all, I am sure this has NEVER been asked before, especially on a car that is almost 20 years old.

Thanks

Definitely hasn't had a clamp fitted on one end as there is no marking on it

It's just an air pipe that directs sound downward. If you're using the stock airbox you may leave it attached pointing downward.
