Does anybody actually has a JDM imported, titled, and insured FD in the States??

I have been reading for days by now. I read soooo much about the subject that I can barely remember what I read.
I got so confused that I think the only way to find out whether its legally doable or not is finding someone who has actually done it.
I read about emissions, similarities with US similar vehicles by manufacturers, cash tests, etc etc etc.
At this point I want it so bad Im afraid I wanted to accept the idea that there actually is a walk around to do it.
The only one that seemed to make sense was the kit car way. But, is there anybody who actually owns and drives a true JDM FD with a US tag and insurance in it?

Not eligible for import until it is 25 years old.
End of story.

Sure you may have it registered in state, but it is not federally legal, and can be seized at any time by the feds.

Anyone who says otherwise is wrong.

You want a civic, I think.
You can't have a federally legal JDM rx7. Period.

The NHTSA's list has 1986-1995 listed as eligible for importation. 96 and up are probably not on the list because they were never brought here, but you can always try to get Mazda to confirm that there was no significant change in emissions and safety. But that would be hard, most Japanese car manufactures don't like giving that kind of info out. I've read through all the legal crap regarding vehicle importation back when I was trying to figure out how to bring my R32 GTR (RIP) back. http://www.nhtsa.gov/cars/rules/import/elig092210.pdf

And where are you getting this info from?

And after doing a little more research it would seem up to '97 are eligible.

Edit: nevermind found it, the list doesn't specify RHD so only LHD.

So basically all it'll take is to have the car converted to a LHD in Japan and then ship?? Sounds too good to be truth lol

Not this old chestnut.

Can someone plug in a self destruct for any thread having "RHD/JDM/import/how/can" in the title please.

This thread is retarded. You want jdm but for no particular reason, you say don't care about rhd but you say it at least 3 times every post. Just stick with the ls.

low mile FDs are out there, and they'll cost less than importing one. That said my first FD had 20k more than my second one and it was cleaner.
