I think general lack of knowledge about rotaries plays a big part too. You see a lot of RX7 guys dropping money on stupid *** parts they don't need, and I would estimate that upwards of 50% of rotary engine failures are due to owner error in either driving style, maintenance, or not noticing a problem until it is way too late.
If you rule out the cost of all that, I would say bang for the buck on an rx7 is higher than most other vehicles for street or track use, except possibly drag racing.

ill never complain about mod prices for our car... they are relatively inexpensive compared to mod prices for cars that are similarly priced (when each car was NEW) look at prices for mods on anything german, even older ones.
interesting tidbit... i know of a standard Veyron owner that wanted to upgrade his wheels to the newer Veyron SS wheels... it has to be done through Bugatti themselves, and cost him $200k... yup, $200,000 to change his wheels/tires to the new version.
